What is a difference between a facial wash and a scrub? A facial wash is smooth, usually cream textured. Facial scrubs have some kind of grit in them that is used to exfoliate more dead skin cells that a wash. If you have skin that is prone to break outs, most dermatologist recommend using a face wash only, not a scrub. Face scrubs can irritate the skin and make it more prone to break outs. Face wash cleans oil/dirt from your face by using chemicals such as soup. Facial scrub cleans oil/dirt from your face by using exfoliants, such as ground up walnut shells or micro-beads.
